Default question regarding the flooding in Manitoba.

Not sure where else to ask this so this seems like as good a place as any: Does anyone know if any military units from Alberta have been moved to be deployed to help? More specifically from Edmonton?

It is a terrible situation and I am trying to find out for a good friend who just had his leave pulled but was not told why.

If I'm not mistaken, they're pulling army reserves from CFB Shilo (just a little east of Brandon) first. I can't speak to if they'd mobilise troops from other bases. However CFB Shilo is part of the 1 CMBG so you may see additional units come from Edmonton which is the HQ of it.

He got the 6 hour move notice last night at around 9pm pacific and made the drive in to Edmonton at around 7:30/8am mountain time (New BC speed limits ftw?). Haven't heard from him since, so I guess they are on their way out.

I will assume that this is what it was, so thanks for responding.

They gave him 6 hours notice to be ready to pull out? That's insanely harsh considering I know people in the Army who have posted more than a 6-hour FLIGHT from home. Couldn't imagine getting that notification.

Well they obviously knew where he was since he had to get the leave pass so even he was baffled with the 6 hours notice. I would assume that was their way of saying "Get on your horse."
