Well tomorrow is d-day for the pipeline. The federal government is set to announce a decision on whether they will grant approval tomorrow after the markets close.
My guess is they deny it. I base that on a few other restrictive things I have seen them do in terms of business over the past few years. I think they will be pandering to voters who opposed this from the start, although I could definitely be wrong.
Place your bets!

Waiting to hear the big news, heard that it will get approved on the federal level but might be held up provincially. BC has final say on whether 60 or more building permits are issued at the end of the day. I'll be curious to see how it goes. To be honest I don't know enough about it to give an opinion. I like the potential economic benefits for my province but I still have some apprehensions about the ability of companies/government to respond to a major environmental disaster.

It's a political hand grenade in BC. Opposition to it is fierce and well positioned to derail it.
The saving grace for the pipeline might be the absence of a legitimate opposition party in BC. The Liberals proved in the last election they can do whatever they want, so they might push for it despite vocal opposition.
It ain't popular in BC though, and it's not just First Nations that are displeased with the idea.

I would be shocked if they didn't approve it. It's a must have for Canada. The Conservatives were not getting the votes from the environmentalists anyway, I see them 100% approving the pipeline. They will highlight all the things they will be doing to protect the environment to try to appease the B.C voters.

I think the Conservatives spend the political capital and approve it.

For potential jobs, yes. For the environment, no. Tough decision.

NDP are a strong leader away from being in power for 10 - 15 years in BC. Liberals can't keep playing with fire with doing stuff that smacks directly into the face of the voters.
If the people don't want it, the Liberals will put it to a referendum so they don't have to make a choice.

With Keystone XL still up in the air, how can we it not get approved?

My bet is on delay and kicking it back to the NEB which would be particularly rich for Mr. No Brainer on KXL.

Even the Liberals will approve this one. Anyone who thinks this isn't getting approved is being incredibly naive.

That is not an option. It's either approve, not approve or send back to NEB.

I think it will be approved. The path is inline with an existing pipeline. The importance for the Canadian economy to be able to ship LNG and other products to our own ports is too great.
