Default Mouse hates coffee

wireless mouse got a cup of coffee today. just found out it doesn't like coffee. wish i had known that beforehand. so now after drying it out my mouse kind of works, but the keyboard shift button now is previous page and the control button zooms out... that is all i have found so far. any thoughts on why this is happening.

I think it might be due to the fact that you spilled coffee on it.

Probably a short. Really the best option is to buy a new mouse.

The new mice and keyboards pack so much tech and precision components, it's really difficult to clean. I remember the good 'ol days with the old school mechanical keyboards you could pop the keys off and clean them in the dishwasher. Mice have always been difficult to clean though (especially if you got stuff in the rollers for the ball mice).

And after an hour the problem has gone away.

It's weird how the mouse affects the keyboard. I was just curious as to why. My mouse clicks like new now and has a lovely aroma.

You didn't dry it out. You might have gotten the moisture out but there still coffee (sugar/cream?) residue shorting out or causing mechanical sticking of the micro switches. Pushing them more might clear up the blockages.

Of course I did. I ran a hair dryer on medium heat over it for 45 mins. It went from not working (spilled coffee) to kind of working (hair dryer 15 mins) to almost perfect (hair dryer 45 mins) to perfect (last post above).

No sugar or cream thank goodness.

It's probably just acting up because the mouse got some coffee and it didn't. I recommend dumping some coffee on they keyboard to even things out.

Exactly. It is unhappy with the unfair treatment so it went on strike.

Sometimes I give my keyboard a cigarette, just to watch my mouse freak out.

I dunno, it's fun screwing with them like that.
