I'd take Murray for the Ryan trade alone.

Lombardi would be my vote... LA Kings aren't the way they are without him.

Lombardi for me. Gaborik trade paid huge dividends and was really ballsy considering how often he gets injured

Surprised Jim Nill isn't nominated after getting Seguin and drafting Nichuskin.

Surprised this is Lombardi's first nomination. And funny now Murray is never really talked about as one of the league's best GMs.

Moves were so bold, the effects won't be felt for a few years. But once the potential of those moves is reached, they will for sure be considered special and he'll be a shoe-in for the Special Olymp...I mean GM of the year.

He didn't trade enough NHL quality defencemen for draft picks.

WAY too early to judge that trade.
We have to wait and see on the 1st round pick this year
Silfverbeg looks ok. Nothing special so far with the Ducks. Was injured for a lot of the year.
Stefan Noesen is a wild card, was also injured for almost the whole year but certainly took a step back playing junior last year.

So far it looks like a 2nd/3rd line winger, a 3rd/4th line winger and the 10 overall pick.
Too early to say for sure but most of the time quality trumps quantity.

Noesen certainly has top 6 potential, and I'd bet Silverberg becomes a good top 6 forward as well.
Ignoring the state of the Flames and Senators, would you trade Baertschi, Poirier, and a 10th overall pick for Bobby Ryan? Because I'd say that's a pretty close equivalent.

The past three years Ryan has a PPG of 0.68, the prior three years he had a PPG of 0.85.
I know there are other factors involved, but thats not a trend id want to see from a 27 year old player if he were a member of the Flames.

Lombardi has done a masterful job architecturally with the Kings for many years.
Always surrounds himself with the best management coaches and scouts.

I could never understand why he got fired in San Jose after one bad year.

Noesen(22 yrs old) will never be a top line player, every hockey person on the planet can see his top potental is 2nd/3rd line winger. and Silverberg(24 years old) doesn't have the skillset to consistently stay in the top 6.

Ummm, NO. Noesen played 4 years of junor for a reason and hasn't sniffed an NHL game, Silfverberg isn't any better than Colborne
Equivalent would be more like Colborne, Granlund and a 10th overall pick for Bobby Ryan.
