Default Hey, the Memorial Cup

We don't have any prospects playing but it's pretty good hockey. Right now the Oil Kings are playing the OHL champions Guelph Storm on RSN. Score is 0-0. Yesterday the QHL Val-dor beat London 1-0.

When is the last time we've had no prospects in the Memorial Cup? Seems like we always have at least one the last 10 years or so.

Also, Go London!

Watched the game yesterday... Anthony Mantha is damn good. But their goalie stole the game.

The fact a team that's has Mario Durocher as head coach and general manager is in the Memorial Cup is absolutely mind boggling!

This is a man who was run out of Bathurst and then destroyed Cape Breton who is just now recovering 3 years later (still got swept in the first round, and 3 years is almost a complete life cycle on junior).

I can't believe he got another Jon in the Q let alone won it all.

His reputation of being poison in the dressing room makes it even more surprising.

I can only hope if Val d'Or wins it all the Canucks scoop him up. Otherwise I'll be happy with anyone else.

Oil Kings lose 5-2. Bertuzzi scores twice for the Storm.

I heard this morning watching sports highlights that with Mantha's goal last night, he now has 82 goals in 82 games (regular season and playoffs) this season.

Yeah, knowing Detroit, I was going to say they'll probably send him back to junior for another year but he's a late birthday so he can turn pro next season. He only scored 5 goals in 7 games at the World Juniors though, so he's behind a GAG pace overall.

He's a big guy and not the worst skater in the world.. seems odd that he fell so far in the draft.

It was his play during the draft year the concerned a lot of scouts. If it helps, think of Ryan Getzlaf - he had all the tools but looked lazy and never really tried driving the net all that hard. High risk, high reward as a result.

Apparently Sam is not there, not sure who the guy is sitting between Paul and Max, but he does have a family tag around his neck.

5-2 Oil Kings with a minute to go. Looks like our western representative will make it to the playoffs.

Selfish penalty by McCarron with less than 4 minutes remaining. Sucker punched Moroz. Knights lose 5-2. Good.

I was shocked the Knights didn't do more at the trade deadline this year... Very un-Hunter like to sit so still when hosting this tournament.

The Oil Kings are a better team for a full series instead of this Memorial Cup format, the way they turned that Portland series around.

Guelph will be tough to beat.

Early in the first and Guelph are already up 3-0 on Val d'Or'. It looks like the Storm are the class of the tourney so far.

I usually like this tourney, but can't cheer for anything Edmonton, they are stinking up my Memorial Cup experience!
