Calling All Drummers!
I'm having a problem with my kit, where my ride cymbol will not stay upright no matter how much I tighten it. Halfway through each song it slips and falls down vertically. My thinking is to use some spray adhesive to fix it where I want it, but I would prefer a less permanent solution. Anyone have a similar problem that they've dealt with? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Depending on the type of stand you may be able to get a replacement elbow joint (I don't know the terminology) from long and mcquaid instead of buying a new stand all together

Since you said it's slipping vertically I'm thinking it's a straight section that telescopes up and the collar isn't gripping when tightened. Those stands are pretty simple, nylon collar grips when tight.
Just a guess but did someone mix and match parts? Sounds like the diameter of that section of the stand is too small for the collar.

When I said it slips vertically I meant the arm of the stand rotates within the joint and the cymbol goes from horizontal to vertical. I took the stand from an older set but it did come as one. It does seem as tho the joint isnt the right shape/size for the arm tho.

A picture here would be worth a thousand words, but I think I know which part you are having problems with. Depending on the type of joint you may have a few options. If it's gear type you could try wrapping a little bit of mechanics wire inbetween the joints and then tighten. If it's two flat peices and tightens like a clutch you may be able to shim it with a washer or two.
Really depends on the brand and type of hardware you have. Sometimes some things are not worth fixing. If you're in the market for new hardware you can't go wrong with pearl or Tama hardware.

If cp can't help fix the problem, you're probably best off just picking up the guitar.

Hmmm might be stripped?? I have burned through my fair share of stands the most maddening being a yorkville (I believe that's the name) But Gibraltar stands have given me a tonne of milage , you can get an 8600 series stand from L&M for 80 bucks or the 5600 for 60 bucks and I definitely give it a recommendation. Another cool hardware accessory is a mini boom for your smaller cymbals, L&M sells a really good Pearl mini boom for 35 bucks, im using two on my kit below!
Hope that helps!!

I've never tried any of their hardware myself, but have heard nothing but good things.
Years ago they had a special edition delite kit with a tattoo finish. Normally I dislike wraps or anything with racing stripes ect on them, but those drums looked so hot. One day!

My kit is actually a really old sonor. But the particylar srand is a pearl from a crappy entry level kit. Although it was never used much. Ill try to post a pick later, buts essentially the boom part of a boom ride stand slipping. I dont really see how it could be stripped or anything as its basically smooth metal on smoth metal.
Thanks for all the help guys!

Chances are the internals at the adjustment point are stripped. Happens over time, quicker on cheap hardware then expensive stuff.
You can just replace the boom arm without the full stand, as mentioned above.
