Leafs - Flyers deal
The Toronto Maple are staying busy on the trade market. One day after trading away the 3rd overall draft pick, they can announce another trade:
TO TORONTO
D Andy Greene
TO PHILADELPHIA
F Alex Killorn
Wasn't exactly planning to ship off Killorn, especially without a forward coming back. But our blueline was absolutely horrible last season and we entered this offseason with the intention of significantly improving the look of our blueline. After already adding Mark Giordano, we feel that Andy Greene will further help us in this regard.
My blueline prior to the trade deadline:
Andrew MacDonald - Nick Schultz
Kyle Quincey - Mark Fraser
Steve Eminger - Davis Drewiske
My blueline now:
Mark Giordano - Andy Greene
Barret Jackman - Andrew MacDonald
Kyle Quincey - Kevan Miller
"Not bad", if I may say so myself ... I like that a million times better than the blueline I had last season. MacDonald goes from #1 defenseman to 2nd pairing, which is where he should be ... and Giordano-Greene finally gives me a legitimate 1st pairing.
This also means that Craig Smith will probably stay at center instead of moving to right wing, which was the original plan. We will now look to add a couple 2nd/3rd line wingers. I have two 2nd round picks in the upcoming draft and a few prospects that can go, so if you're interested in something like that, shoot me a PM.
