If you have a player with 1 year left on their contract as of NOW, and you don't intend to re-sign them - you may now release them. The cap hit will apply to this year since they would have been free agents.

Bruins/Ducks can't do this yet.

Can one of the commish crew please check to see if you have received my release players requests. I had an issue with this getting through to the league during the playoffs so I have a feeling you havent seen anything from me even though I sent a bunch.

If I have guys under contract for next season and release them now, does cap count against my current cap or next year?

GMs...surprisingly I haven't seen many teams send in player drops yet? Please take the time to run through your roster and if you have any upcoming UFAs (1 year contracts) you don't intend to keep, buy them out please. Now is the time to clean house.

I should reiterate from non playoff team thread...
IF you have found or find that this game simply takes too much of your time and you are not able to manage your team properly, or you dont have time to talk trade with other GMs then NOW is the best time to resign and let a newbie take over. We do have a list of guys who would love to play.
We find that a lot of GMs tend to wait until an important part of the year, eg. draft, free agency, etc, to drop the bomb which puts new GMs in a tough position. Be honest with yourself and the league, if its too much right now pass it on and when time lightens up a bit come back.
