Well, that Brentwood one was the type of odd/messed up, mass stabbing tragedy that we may not see the likes of for decades.
So I think his point was that you're kind of combining that one with this, which is a domestic or "known to eachother" incident, which we see one of this magnitude per year, give or take, and you're making it sound like the city is going to ****.
I think in terms of our city's safety and level of violent incidents, you can pretty much remove the Brentwood stabbing. It's not a sign of violence on the rise in Calgary or an indication of a lack of safety here. It was a one off event that we may never see the likes of again in our lifetime in this city.

I think we've now taken the title from Stabmonton.
Not good.

Of that I'm sure, but my "what's going on" was simply in reference to the proximity in time of these two events in which lives were taken no matter the reasoning, and not referring to the city going down the drain because, as you say, this latter incident is relatively uncommon and the former unlikely to happen again.

I know the people that live in the duplex in the pinkish coloured house, checking with my family if it was anyone in that home that was involved.
Confirmed.

Sickening if true what I've heard, but I can confirm the person killed his wife there was a child, but I am not sure if they where involved or not at this point.

Yes, not injured though from what I understand. The person who killed was a tenant who killed his wife, injured a landlord, not sure about the 3rd person.

Jesus is there a full moon or something like that.
One theory that I've heard is that as quality of life and individual wealth increases so do violent incidents due to alcohol and recreational drugs and fear and frustration increasing.
I don't know if its true, but its pretty disturbing to see how the first 6 months have gone in this city.

While Deadmonton is more commonly known and accepted, Stabmonton became popular a few years back when they were knifing people left, right and centre.
It's all good, Edmonton still sucks.

People seem to be more stressed, stagnant salaries with rising expenses, longer commutes, longer working hours, more temp/contract jobs... It seems like everywhere I go nowadays everybody is in a huge rush.
No idea if that has anything to do with this but it's concerning to me nonetheless!

I wonder what compels someone to kill their wife.
You never hear of a reason, but I am wondering if common themes are:
- Money
- Divorce
- Cheating

Reverse the order and it would fit a lot of them.
