Caps could have signed him IMO. I actually like Halak but there must be something about him that made montreal, St Louis and Wsh believe he wasn't their guy despite good numbers
Islanders needed this though, looks like they are gunna give Buf their 2015

I dont get why he cant stick on a team, the Blues probably wish they hadnt traded him. Miller was brutal.

probably didn't want to sign in Washington in order to test UFA ... Caps would have been pretty stupid to not try to re-sign him, he was quite good for them I thought. Or maybe they are really high on Grubauer and are comfortable with Holtby and Grubauer going forward, but I doubt it.

Now will Halak sign a deal with the Islanders is the real question.

Varlamov, Vokoun, Neuvirth, now Halak, the Caps sure don't seem concerned in letting go some decent goalies.

Who even made this deal for the Caps? Do they even have a GM?

Great move for the Islanders.
Halak should be an upgrade to the mess they had in net this year.

He likely has a legit starting role there, I don't see why he wouldn't.

Well yeah, but after his last few years, he might be happy with a stable few years of 50 games in one place.

Good trade for the Isles. Hopefully this pulls the Isles closer to a playoff spot next season, so that their draft pick is less likely to be involved in the McDavid sweepstakes.

Halak never established himself as the clearcut #1 in any of his stops. St. Louis was the place to do it but he didn't wrestle the #1 job away.

In my mind 4th round= potential TJ Brodie , I'm not sure why they would give up such a high draft pick just for the rights when there are so many UFA goalies out there. I hope they had some indicators that He has interest in signing there. For some strange unexplainable reason I feel sorry for the Islanders, they are the only organization run worse than the Oilers and everything they touch turns to crap ,it would be very painful to be a fan

Apparently Anders Nilsson, who played 19 games for the Isles this season, has told them that he doesn't intend to spend another season in the AHL if he's going to resign. Pretty sure Islanders won't renew that contract and he'll end up in SHL/KHL.
