Default LF Window Installer Recommendation

Thinking about biting the bullet and having a few new windows installed in our house; anyone use someone who does a good job at a fair price?

I just had my windows done this week and what a huge difference it has made. I used http://www.max-green.ca/. Adam was my sales person and Jim (and his team) were the installers. They did an excellent job and I can't recommend them enough. Reviews for their work can be found on www.HomeStars.com.

I plan to use them to have a couple of doors replaced too.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I used Western Windows and have been very pleased with the outcome. They replaced 10 windows in my older bungalow, 4 of them quite large. I chose the triple glaze, low-e, and it came in around 15 large.

How much should one expect to pay for replacement windows? I know there are a lot of variables but sometimes you don't even know how to begin to guess...

Yeah there are too many variables like wood or vinyl, double or triple pane, open or closed, different colored flashing/metal cladding etc. Best to get someone in to quote you a price.

Looking at my quote each window was around $1000 give or take $200. I did triple pane vinyl windows.

Installed?

Maybe it's just me but I find it hard to budget renos when you don't even know where to begin... Ie, you could have told me $500 installed for a triple pane wood window and I would have believed it. Likewise, I probably would have believed $2,000 not installed for a vinyl double pane window.

I found this online but it seems to be consistently low for the Calgary area...

It takes 30 seconds to call someone to get a quote...and 10 minutes for them to get you a cost. If you plan to just go by what people say on the internet then yes you will have a hard time budgeting a reno.

I was just asking for a ball park figure, you gave it to me with your $1,000/window number... Thank you, I appreciate it!

I've found that a lot of contractors are extremely hesitant to give you even the roughest of estimates over the phone. It's nice to have the time for them to come give you proper estimates in person but when you're only day dreaming you don't really feel like wasting their time by "kicking tires"...

Both of my and my inlaws houses have had their windows replaced by a smaller company called Exterior Systems.

They have also replaced a main door and done some smaller renovations for me in the past few years.

They mainly use Gentek Windows but you may have other options.

PM me if you want the contact info.

I am one of the best Windows installers in the city. From Windows 95 through Windows 8.1, I install them all - and do a damn fine job of it too.

Has anyone worked with Polar Ray-O-Max Windows before?

I'm going to have a few windows replaced later this summer and there are so many different companies and installers to pick from. Apparently they offer a 32% discount on window orders to AMA members. I'll probably get them to provide a quote but I'm interested to know if anyone has first hand experience dealing with them. Homestar reviews are pretty good for the company.
