Thumbs up Susan Boyle - Singer - Britains Got Talent 2009

Quote:
Susan Boyle (remember that name) became a Web phenomenon after singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables. The performance brought the audience to its feet and left the judges (including Simon Cowell) either speechless or in tears.

Before going on stage, Ms. Boyle admitted some self-deprecating facts about herself (she's never been kissed and lives alone with her cat, Pebbles). For those reasons and more, audiences were expecting the female William Hung. They were wrong.

Lookups on the sudden star posted huge gains. A no-name just the other day, Ms. Boyle quickly surged into our top 5,000 overall searches. Blogs and gossip rags went wild. The Mirror jumped on the story, reporting that while Ms. Boyle thought she "looked like a garage" on TV, she received a standing ovation when she showed up at her local church.

Other sources write that as a child, Ms. Boyle was the target of bullies because of a disability. But, with her newfound fame, she is getting the last laugh. In fact, she's already meeting with officials from Mr. Cowell's Sony BMG label. This may have been the first you've heard of her, but it certainly won't be the last.

These people always seem to have amazingly apt song choices.

Susan Boyle sings "I Dreamed Dream", about how her life destroyed her dream and now she has lived it out.

Paul Potts had that great Vinchero! Vinchero! Vinechero! (sp) line. Basically "I am victorious" or "I have conquered".

Good on her. And I hope she ends up kissed, too!

How on earth is that guy a salesman? He should be singing in concert halls and doing Opera fulltime.

wow. The second she started singing my jaw dropped to the floor. amazing.

I especially loved how everyone, including the judges, were rolling their eyes, laughing at her, etc. She sure shocked the hell out of them all. Hope she goes on to live her dream.

Heh, that's like waking up one morning and finding out you have a super power.

Though I would like to hear her sing a few other things to get a real judge of her voice.

britain's got talent, america's got talent....

why is it that "talent" is almost always singing? it seems that if you can sing, you have a better chance of winning the "got talent" shows.

the 'idol' shows already cover singing.

You know half of her appearance issues have to do with those eye brows, she trims those up and I bet she looks like a modest 47 year old lady.

Amazing voice, made me a little veklempt.

That was heartwarming.

So when does she start to get picked apart like Paul Potts was? I'm not a professional singing critic, so maybe I don't have the ear like some do, but that was pretty damn good.

He is doing that now after the won the show last time around. His CD has sold 2 million copies and he's toured the world and is even doing Japanese commercials (the sure sign of success and fame lol).

Nomatter what talent you have, it's always the singers that win because they are always the most popular.

This is exactly why America's Got Talent was ruined. They tried to treat every contestant like they were either a full-blown star or a dirt bag. So, in a 60 minute show, you got 10 minutes of singing/talent, 20 minutes of the judges and the other 30 of the audience going 'crazy' and cheering or booing. Why do they insist on panning to the audience every 2.3 seconds? Because of that, this performance is totally ruined for me. They just tried to brutally copy Britain's Got Talent at any expense... usually overhyping a terrible performer. Performer after performer.

They should just keep the camera focused on that female judge. I would be OK with that.
