The question isn't whether or not Johnny wins, but does he get every vote? Sure seems like he should.
I'm sure Dowd is a fine player, but is he really worthy of a nomination? His stats are pretty 'meh' for a Hobey finalist.

Nic Dowd - Born May 23 1990
38 games played - 22 goals, 18 assists - Season is over
Greg Carey - Born April 5 1990
38 games - 18 goals, 39 assists - Season is over
John Gaudreau - Born August 13th 1993
39 games - 35 goals, 42 assists - Still playing
Gaudreau should easily win.

Yea, they are much older then Gaudreau, both of them turn 24 before Gaudreau turns 21..

Should have been Hayes instead of Dowd. In any case there shouldn't be any doubt about the winner.

Yea, I am not really sure how Dowd made it ahead of some players. I'm a bit surprised Shayne Gostisbehere didn't make the final 3. Flyers fans seemed pretty confident that he would.

Gaudreau has more assists than Dowd has points.

I don't imagine there is a way he doesn't win.

14% more goals, and we would have had as many goals as the other 2 finalists together.

The list looks like two good student athletes up against an amazing athlete who plays at college. Carey and Dowd look to be what the NCAA wants to highlight as an student athlete - the total package of academic achievement, community involvement and athletic prowess. But Johnny is in another universe on the ice.

Do we really have to put down guys who are finalists because they aren't as good as Gaudreau on the ice? Why can't we just be happy with Gaudreau and concentrate on that instead of belittling 2 other great athletes.

I don't think anyone's belittling them. They're pointing out statistical facts that support Gaudreau winning. No ones taking anything away from them. They're obviously talented players but they shouldn't win.

Discussing the finalists is not belittling them, especially in the manner it taking place in this thread.

Johnny just looks too good(reau). Sorry, I had to! It really doesn't look like it's going to be much of a contest here but I guess you never know. The other two look to be pretty solid players too and I hope they do well in the NHL.....I just hope Johnny wins this, wins the championship and then helps the Heat win the Calder Cup and then in a few years helps the Flames win the Stanley Cup.
