I went with no too much term. I do think his contract to stay would be on the high side. That said it's not the end of the world if they do re-sign him. My problem is that with the team being rather small, it should mean the end for Hudler. I rather have Hudler over Cammi.

I think the Flames would regret the signing. He played much better after the trade deadline looking for a new pay day. Let him walk, a UFA like him rarely ends up being worth the money spent. You are paying for what they did in the past and not getting your money's worth in the present.

Yes, but only in the unlikely situation that they can talk him down on term.

ideally he agrees to more money and only 2 years, and it solves the Flames get to the floor problem without bringing in a silly contracts and unknown dressing room issues.

This is a really tough call for me. Our LW depth looks something like this, Glencross, Bouma, Byron, Galiardi (may be gone as well), Gaudreau, Baertschi, M. Reinhart with a few more bigger and unproven possibilities. We do have a lot of prospect LWers but not many proven players, so in that sense Squid would be a good player to retain but he's another small player and he blocks a rookie from a job, so I voted to let him walk.

We can only carry a few small players.... and we need to make room for Johnny, Sven, Byron, etc.

Cap floor. They have to have some salary, it might as well be someone they know and love.

voted yes , but the bigger question is why would he resign here ?
other than the ability for the Flames to throw mountains of money at him (and Calgary being awesome) ?

I have a question to the posters that would think along the lines of money and term being a good fit.
What is the contract that you would like to see?
Personally I think at the very least on the open market Cammi gets a 4 year, $20 million contract. He has had some injuries over the past couple of years , so I don't see him throwing much money away on a shorter term contract. My guess for a 2 year contract would be $8.5 million. Yes flames could afford it, but I would not like the logistics of making Cammi one of the highest paid players in the league.

I would say 3 year term for 5 million a season. We can afford it and need his leadership

I can't see Cammi even thinking about signing that deal. He could get more term and maybe more money on the ufa market. Like I said in other post I think Cammi can get at least a 4 year $20 million on the open market. That's also probably from a team that has a better chance of making playoffs.

If you are talking 8.5M for Cammalleri already then just offer Iginla 2 years at 10M as the veteran leadership bridge.

I am not sure I am reading this right.
Are you suggesting that on a 2 year deal he will want $8.5 million per year?
If so I am not sure you are right, maybe 6 million, but definitely not 8.5.
If Cammalleri signs with Calgary I see it breaking down on a scale like this:
Year 1 - 6.000 million
Year 2 - 5.500 million [$5,750,000 cap hit]
Year 3 - 4.750 million [$5,416,667 cap hit]
Year 4 - 4.000 million [$5,062,500 cap hit]
Year 5 - 3.000 million [$4,650,000 cap hit]
Year 6 - 2.750 million [$4,333,333 cap hit]

2 years or less (money doesn't matter) and I would love him back. But more than that would be a mistake

I said yes because he seems like a good guy to have around and would help to hit the cap floor, but I doubt he'll be back.

Ya, if we have to throw money around to get to floor, it might as well go to a good dude.
