His initial response letter was pathetic, I would have been fine with an apology/recant.

I started trying out chrome on my desktop and phone... I do not like how chrome does not support extensions on android. I guess I can switch back to firefox now!

First, I want to say how absolutely sad to hear that Brendan Eich stepped down. I guess this counts as some kind of “victory,” but it doesn’t feel like it. We never expected this to get as big as it has and we never expected that Brendan wouldn’t make a simple statement. I met with Brendan and asked him to just apologize for the discrimination under the law that we faced. He can still keep his personal beliefs, but I wanted him to recognize that we faced real issues with immigration and say that he never intended to cause people problems.

It’s heartbreaking to us that he was unwilling to say even that.

Even so, you just can't compartmentalize personal and business life like that when you are that high up in a company. Mozilla would have become known for having a bigot as its CEO, and god help the company if he made an individual donation to another homophobic cause while in the role.

He donated money to support, as I understand it, being against gay marriage. It was a personal donation.

Because of the political backlash discovered because you had to declare your identity to donate, he resigned rather than allow the issue cloud the Mozilla agenda.

That's a stand up move.
