Nice! He's got a dutch name, so he's got to be a great person. He could play with Bouma

I love what I hear from these quotes:
Quote:
His calling card the past six years has been fairly straightforward: defense, physicality and, well, pain.
Quinnipiac’s Bryce Van Brabant enjoys finishing each body check. And when the 6-foot-3, 220-pound junior hits someone, he tends to leave an impression. It’s been that way ever since a growth spurt at age 15 transformed him from average-sized left winger to bruising power forward.
“There are a lot of guys that act tough but don’t finish,” Quinnipiac coach Rand Pecknold said. “Bryce? He’s as tough as they come.”
An unexpected infusion of offense to his repertoire has truly left a mark this winter, both on the opposition and in the notebooks of an ever-expanding horde of interested NHL scouts.

yeah I remember that name from development camp last year. Excited to see what he can bring, IIRC there were positive reviews after his play at camp.

I'm assuming he'll be fighting for a farm spot next year. Add the rumors of David Wolf coming over from Germany and this team might be extremely tough to play against next season. You may win, but you'll be leaving bloody and bruised for doing so.
I like that MO.

by the way, he led the whole NCAA in PIM this season. Only three players with triple digits -
1 Van Brabant (Quinnipiac) - 113
2 Clifton (Quinnipiac) - 106
3 Seckel (Northern Michigan) - 103
4 Sexton (Clarkson) - 88
5 McNally (Dartmouth) - 87

He was one of the better walk-ons during the development camp. Showed some skill on day 1, and was still somewhat noticeable in the following days. I don't think he has NHL potential unless he brings more than he has now. He should be a decent player for Abby though.

Worth cross-posting from the poster tvp2003:
Quote:
Apparently the Flames recently (i.e. within the last three weeks) ordered jersey nameplates for Gaudreau, Arnold, Agostino, and two other guys (who I believe are college free agents). Obviously nothing official, but it looks like the Flames expect JG (and Arnold) will be donning Flames sweaters at some point in the near future...
Don't know if this qualifies as anything but take it for what it's worth...
The two college free agents were Bryce Van Babrant (who I understand was invited to Flames development camp last year) and somebody with a crazy last name I had never heard of. Looking at the list in the OP, I believe it is this guy:
D Scott Czarnowczan 5'10'' 176 lbs (Senior) 22yo
Stats: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=123299
only trails van Riemsdyk in scoring among defensemen

I wouldn't expect much offense out of him at the NHL or AHL level. Probably a 4th line guy for the Flames.

This is pretty exciting news. I think I prefer signing undrafted college players to undrafted CHLers, that extra couple years of maturity and size should speed development of the player tremendously.

He's a big kid. Stick him between Westgarth/Bouma and McGrattan and watch the fireworks.
He attended both the Flames and Oilers camps last year.

SB Nation had him at number 78 on their "NCAA Top 100 NHL Prospects" list a couple of weeks ago.
Quote:
78. Bryce Van Brabant, Forward, Quinnipiac (Free Agent)
The junior has really come on strong this season, potting 14 goals after having found the back of the net just nine times in his first two seasons combined. He's a big, powerful winger whose net presence is intimidating. He could play a myriad of roles at the next level, but a power forward who can bring toughness on the third or fourth line is probably his calling.

113 PIM in 40 games in a league without fighting, hope those penalties are of the charging and boarding variety and not tripping/hooking/holding
