Default Dog Dentist

My dog's teeth are not looking good. Seems like he has developed some kind of a gum disease, plus one front tooth is about to fall out. He's only 7 yrs old, so this should not be happening. I suspect if I take him to our regular vet, she'd just tell us to go see the dog dentist. I heard that a visit to a dog dentist in Calgary could cost a fortune for teeth cleaning/maintenance. Someone mentioned $1,000 fee magnitude. I also heard that this same procedure costs a lot less in small towns.

Any advice on a reasonable cost dog dentist/vet anywhere in the area between Edmonton and Lethbridge?

I had a vet in Calgary quote me $1600 to remove one of my dogs teeth and do a cleaning - I went to Claresholm Vetrinary Services and got it done for $650. Very much worth the four hours of driving to save the $, and they were very good.

It is not cheap. I spent several thousand dollars having teeth removed and cleaned numerous times through the course of my two dog's lives. I had Japanese Chins so their teeth were hard to keep clean as their mouths and teeth were very small. Hard to get in there to brush.

An excellent veterinarian who is just NW of Calgary is Dr. Carolin Koebisch at Cochrane Lake Small Animal Clinic. Her practice is adjacent to her home on an acreage in the european tradition. Very nice setting and far cheaper than Calgary clinics. One of her specialties is teeth.

Hi, I have been quoted over $1000 as well by some vets. It's crazy.
I took my dog to Due South Vet Clinic in Mackenzie Lake for teeth cleaning and it was around $400 a couple of years ago. A bit more if they do a blood test, so it ended up being closer to $500 for me.
I also have heard that the Canine Companion Clinic in Marda Loop is in that same range for teeth cleaning ($400ish). I haven't used them for that but I have taken my dog there for regular vet checks. They are very reasonably priced for all the services I have used.
I hope this helps.

Cochrane Vet Clinic. The special lazer vet in Airdrie wanted 2500 bucks. Cochrane vet clinic was about 600 with blood work.

Doesn't help your current situation, but consider switching to a raw food diet.

My lab is 4 years old, and his teeth are still super white. We've never brushed them, the bone in his food keeps them clean.

The good we use is called Mountain Dog Food.

Just echoing what others have said, go outside the City. Typically take my dog to Didsbury for anything outside of regular check-ups and that kind of thing.
