Default March 29, with eleven games!

There are lots of crucial games in the playoff race, two of them are matinee games.

The Avalanche defeated the Sharks 3-2 in regulation time at the Pepsi Centre which was on RDS2.
The Avalanche have officially clinched a playoff spot in the western conference.

The visiting Boston Bruins defeated the Washington Capitals 4-2. The Bruins have officially clinched
first place in their division and at least second place in the eastern conference.
Iginla scored twice and now has thirty goals this season.

The national game is also on

in the USA

This is one of two games where both teams are on the brink of a playoff spot in
this eastern turtle derby race. It should be a good one as it is an Original Six rivalry.
The Red Wings win the season series between these two teams if they get one point.
Hopefully, the stinkin' Leafs will lose their eighth consecutive game.

The Habs have won four straight games. This game
was going to be shown in British Columbia but with
Luongo's neck injury sustained on Thursday, the CBC
changed that as he will not dress for this game.

Bored today and running lots of numbers. Somebody mentioned something about Toronto's record since their hot month of October. So I decided to compare them to the Flames since Nov 1st:

G / W / L / O / Pts / ROW / GF / GA / Differential

Tor: 61 / 26 / 27 / 8 / 60 / 18 / 162 / 203 / -41
Cal: 62 / 26 / 31 / 5 / 57 / 20 / 147 / 175 / -28

Not a lot to choose from. Considering the Leafs are in the east, maybe even advantage: Flames

Interesting point how the Wings cap situation screwed themselves in terms of this playoff race. They had Nyquist in the minors for a bunch of games because they couldn't fit him under the cap.

JVR has really come into his own this year.

What an impressive player. Were I a contending team like LA, St.Louis, Anaheim or Minnesota, I'd be trying to move heaven and earth to get him.

He's signed for a real cap-friendly contract for a few more seasons (4.25 hit), so I doubt the Leafs would even be open to trading him.

JVR is an example of a player I was wrong about.

I thought that trade was pretty much a wash for Toronto. I though Schenn was a decent, consistency-oriented defender, and that JVR was an overrated 'young gun' on a standard philly long-term overpay.

A few years later, robbery.

The Wings get a shorty! I'm not sure where the Leafs defence was on that. Helm gets stopped on a breakaway but gets the puck right back alone in front and scores on the second chance.

And another one... 2-1 Wings. Healy trying to paint it as bad luck as it bounced off Phaneuf.

Two culprits.

Franson, for following Phaneuf into the corner, but the forward, and I didn't get a chance to see his number, who did the fly-by in the defensive zone and can be seen across the blueline as the goal goes in.

Phaneuf should've been in there with Helm with Franson covering the net, the first backchecking forward goes into the corner on the blueline side.

Forward was really late though so Franson goes in, expecting the forward to go to the front of the net.

The forward does neither, Franson caught in no-man's land when Phaneuf loses the battle.

The most important game of the night that affects the Flames draft position sees the Isles and Devils tied 1-1 in the 2nd.

Yeah, it was ridiculous to have him in the minors, he is already a top goal scorer.

Was it Cleary and Weiss the Wings signed which pushed them to the cap?
