The 3rd Jersey Curse? Let's see the stats...
Another night in the new thirds and another one in the loss column. As per the Flames website, The boys will dress in these 12 times this year, Here's the breakdown so far:
Friday, November 1st versus the Detroit Red Wings LOSS
Saturday, November 16th versus the Edmonton Oilers LOSS
Tuesday, December 10th versus the Boston Bruins LOSS
Friday, December 27th versus the Edmonton Oilers LOSS
Sunday, December 29th versus the Vancouver Canucks LOSS
Tuesday, December 31st versus the Philadelphia Flyers LOSS
Saturday, January 11th versus the Pittsburgh Penguins LOSS
Thursday, January 16th versus the Winnipeg Jets LOSS
Saturday, February 1st versus the Minnesota Wild WIN No 3rd jersey!!!
Wednesday, March 5th versus the Ottawa Senators WIN
Friday, March 28th versus the New York Rangers WIN
Friday, April 11th versus the Winnipeg Jets
The record stands 2-8 when they wear them.

Is there any reasoning behind them plugging these jerseys hard between Christmas and NYE?
If the thought process is "so that everyone who got a flames 3rd jersey for Christmas can wear it with the team" there's going to be some people let down in the front office.

The jerseys aren't all that bad. They're average visually, a few great aspects, some brutal aspects, but all in all, meh.
Combine a meh jersey with the inability to win?

Oh that why? Haha, they're absolutely terrible. There isn't a single redeeming quality about them. I don't think this fanbase has ever been this close to being unanimous on something.

I just like that it's different. Retro jersey is the best by far and should be one or regular jerseys but I'm starting to resent our current jerseys

Fortunately, CalgaryPuck doesn't represent the entire fan base. To say the fan base is unanimous in disliking the 3rd jersey, is a stretch. Just look at the sales and how many people are wearing them.
For the record: I defended the 3rd when the leaks came out. When I finally saw them in person I decided I could live with them. But I won't be buying one.
