Firefighters are battling a massive six-alarm fire that has engulfed a mattress factory in the city’s north-west end.
The initial call came in around 8:30 a.m. and was upgraded to a six-alarm fire around 11:30 a.m. involving more than 125 firefighters and dozens of fire trucks.
“It’s a six-alarm plus, there are 47 different fire vehicles here all together,” said Fire Capt. Mike Strapko who is on scene. “For a six-alarm, that’s the highest level that I am aware of.
“There have been no reports of injuries to civilians, workers or firefighters,” he added.

What if someone comes along with a seven alarm fire?
Nah, man. Six. Six is the magic number. Six squirrels twirling on a branch, eating lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know, the old children's rhyme from the sea?
Homer: Five-alarm chili, eh? Ned: Uh-huh. Homer: [eats some] One, two… hey, what’s the big idea? Ned: Oh, I admit it. It’s only two-alarm, two-and-a-half, tops. I just wanted to be a big man in front of the kids. Todd: Daddy? Are you going to jail? Ned: We’ll see, son. We’ll see.
