Oldest (and Youngest)Members
So in keeping with a sub-theme in tonight's GT, who are the oldest members on this board?
I do remember the 86 run, and probably a few bits and pieces before that; Pat Riggen, for one.
I'll be thirty-nine this year.

I was at the very first game at the Corral when Calgary tied Quebec 5-5.

That kid that said he felt old in the GT is actually younger than my daughter. Haha.
I'm 37.
I remember literally crying about the Oilers beating us in 1983 and 1984. I remember getting caught by my parents while cheering under my blankets listening to Steve Smith score for us in 1986. 1989 was as amazing as the following 6 years were disappointing. 2004 was the greatest year of my life. This team now is very reminiscent of 02-03. There's a 15 second rundown of my fandom.

I'll be honest. You may think it is wierd, but I'm 12.
I'm pretty sure that makes me the youngest on the board.

39, never, ever will forget my first game at the Corral. Seeing Willie Plett walk out of the room onto the ice for the warm up made me an instant Flames fan. The guy looked like he was 10 feet tall to 6 year old Pylon. Every time I played street hockey, I was Willie Plett.
I also remember guzzling an epic amount of grape pop and popcorn, and puking all over the Corral concourse that night too.

Nice.
I don't think there was an internet when I was twelve.
I actually do remember going to the corral with standing room seats, and watching the Devils in those horrendous unis.

I thought i was young at just barely 21.... That being said one of the things i really enjoy is the diversity of age on this forum. You have people who remember back when the team was in atlanta and those who just started to follow them, it provides different perspectives and can help set what has been going on with the team in the historical perspective it deserves

I just wish I was old enough to remember '04.
From what you all have posted it was a awesome, wonderful experience.

Plett was always my favorite. Not only did he seem huge but the Corral seemed enormous. I was also always Plett in street hockey except when I was one of the Flyers because my buddy, although a Flames fan, was always Gretzky and it seemed like either it was the Flames or Flyers that were battling the Greasers in the playoffs. He's in a better place now.
41 in a month.
I remember sneaking out to go to Electric Avenue the night the Flames won the Cup. I was 16 and it was awesome. It was a similar vibe to 2004 on 17th Ave after we beat the Canucks.

That's one of the nice things about the internet, no matter our age we all have a voice.

It was a blast going to the Corral and watching Bobby Hull, Ulf Nilsson and Anders Hedberg play for the Winnipeg Jets of the WHA. I remember one particular game where the Cowboys were playing the Oilers and goaltender "Smokey" McLeod shot the puck down the ice and it hit a rut and the Oiler goaltender, who was coming out of the next for an extra man, had to dive across with the paddle of his goal stick to prevent the puck from going into the net.

25! My earliest memory was when the dome was called the Canadian Airlines Saddledome and they had a mini plane fly around during intermission dropping tickets

Funny things that I remember cause I'm old
Peter Maher not struggling to remember names. Don Cherry as the Flames color guy in the first year. Ed Whalen doing the channel 2+7 broadcast and making up new words as he goes.
Not every game was on T.V. I remember going to walk the dog while listening to the game on a digital radio built into a watch. That was my favorite dog, a great Ridgeback who could have dragged a very young Captain around the block but seemed to know that I was listening to the game so he just calmly walked beside me looking up at me so that he could bark when I celebrated a Flames goal. (That was a great dog and I miss him a lot btw)
staying up past my bed time and watching the game on a portable Black and white T.V. with like a 3 inch screen and a long antennae
There was no internet or discussion forums at the time so we got our news the old fashion way. Two weeks late in the hockey digest.
I remember Kent Nilsson going down to an injury against the Flyers in the playoffs, a series that we were supposed to lose, and then in the third period he came down the hall and bolted over the boards and the Corral went crazy.
I remember the brawl filled battle of Alberta games. But we were in the Eastern Conference in that first year due to the move.
I remember thinking Pat Riggins was the weirded goalie ever, and the chants for Reggie.
I thought the cages that they wore were so much cooler then the masks at the time.
I remember players vanishing along the boards in the Corral because the boards were so high, I look back on the concessions that were available and laugh. popcorn, pop, beer for the adults. There was little in the way of hot food.
That first year when the Flames just didn't lose at home and the Corral was the scariest building in the NHL outside of the Spectrum in Philly and the rink in Boston with its wacky egg shaped ice surface.
I remember my dad grumbling because there was so little parking and it cost a buck and that was a lot of money.
The Corral held a special place in my heart, I met my first ever girl friend there, and dated her for two years, but I had to take a bus across town to see her with like three transfers.
I remember walking by the Dome when it was under construction and looking in awe at the size of that thing.
It was a great time to be a flames fan.
