Interesting thought: Maybe Burke does not hire a GM
Did anyone else catch the Sportsnet preview show?
John Shannon had an interesting theory where Burke stays as the President of Hockey Ops, and hires a couple of AGMs and assigns them their own tasks.
If (big if) this does happen, could it be Gillman and maybe one of Poulin/Loiselle?

Not sure about his mental capability, but I do know he is a great friend do Gary Bettman and Bill Daly. Wonder if that has something to do with him on TV???

I dont think Gillman would leave for anything than a full GM job
he all ready has more responsibility here than most AGMs in the leagie, he's basically fully in charge of the cap and contract negotiations

Or it could be that he studied Radio and TV at Ryerson college, was executive producer of Hockey Night in Canada, was the producer of Calgary Flames hockey telecasts (hiring a very young Ron Mclean to host) the day they started in the NHL, involved in the production of 5 olympics, or a host of other reasons.
Or it could be because he is friends with Bettman and Daly.

Well he also screamed non-stop when he was Ducks GM he was never going to leave and had no interest in being Leafs GM.
