LaFontaine resigns from the Sabres
Bob McKenzie ✔ @TSNBobMcKenzie
Rumors abound of a potential shakeup in the executive suite of Buffalo Sabres. I've asked the principals for comment. No response thus far.
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Something is up with Pat LaFontaine and the Buffalo Sabres.
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Have been on phone for last little while, see that @TSNBobMcKenzie and @BNHarrington are hearing rumours of change. Also getting no response

I was jealous of the Sabres for a little while, but there's clearly something wrong with the organization if they're already firing their President of Hockey Ops.

It's gotta be a trade of Myers to the Flames

Well, that was quick. If LaFontaine is out, does that mean Craig Patrick takes over as President of Hockey Ops? IIRC he's there as a senior adviser.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
The BUF rumors I tweeted about earlier focus primarily but not exclusively on Pat LaFontaine. Still no comment from anyone in BUF.

meddling ownership?
that last trade was an absolute slam dunk, and to tell you the truth i've spent the last few hours incredibly jealous of what's happening in buffalo.
what's not to like?

Perhaps LaFontaine thought there was enough losing going on in the organization.
Oilers syndrome. No desire to win and it seeps into the psyche of the players.
Most people think all these vets are going to be traded, but who's actually going to play hockey for the Sabres?

Mike Harrington @BNHarrington
No one saw Pat LaFontaine last night, which in retrospect is odd. I'm told by two people he was a late scratch to Power Play Luncheon
Mike Harrington @BNHarrington
If there is discord in #Sabres front office, the clear issues would be disagreement over the Miller trade or the status of Nolan.

I was just on twitter and saw all this going down. Maybe because of miller trade?

I wonder if Lafontaine is calling shenanigans on the rumored moulson/Stewart trade to Ottawa. New GM is providing a favor to uncle Murray... Best interest isn't in favor of the Sabers.

I doubt Tim Murray is dumb enough to make a gift trade to a divisional rival, especially so soon after getting his first GM job.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the Sabres have been making awesome move after awesome move this year. Whatever crazy banana system they have going on at the executive level, it seems to be working.

I agree, but Lafontaine is skeptical, anyways I was just throwing possibilities out there. I think the coach speculation is legit too, however, why would the coach be looked at right now....

Is this the management structure of the future? Feaster gone here, and someone either LaFontaine or Murray is out in Buffalo already.

I still don't know why LaFontaine is the President there, besides his short time as an adviser in NYI does he have any front office experience?
Unless they are going with the oiler system, if you were a good player you must be a good manager.
