Missing OHL player Terry Trafford apparently found dead
Horrible story. He was missing for a week after being cut from the Saginaw Spirit for disciplinary reasons. Michigan police have found his truck in a parking lot with a yet unidentified body in it.
Quote:
Michigan State Police have found an unidentified male body inside a vehicle matching the one driven by missing junior hockey player Terry Trafford, according to a report out of Flint, Michigan.
The vehicle, with a body inside, was found in a Walmart parking lot in Saginaw Township, according to WJRT-TV in Flint. The body has not been identified but Michigan State Police Lt. Brian Cole told Yahoo! Sports it is that of a “young man.”
Trafford, a 20-year-old forward with the Ontario Hockey League’s Saginaw Spirit, was last seen March 3 at the Dow Event Center, the team’s home arena. The Toronto native was last driving a green 1995 GMC Sierra pickup truck with Michigan plates.
Michigan State Police and Toronto Police began investigating his disappearance over the weekend, when friends and teammates took to social media to bring attention to the fact he was missing.
Trafford’s girlfriend, Skye Cieszlak, told the Toronto Sun’s Jenny Yuen on Sunday that he suffered from depression for many years and had threatened to kill himself during a phone conversation with her on March 1.
He had been sent home to Toronto more than a week ago, Spirit president Craig Goslin told MLive.com Tuesday. Goslin did not say what the violation was but added that Trafford was still “on the roster” and the 20-year-old could have returned to the Spirit.
