Dishwasher Woes
So I am absolutely stumped and have no idea what to do...hoping to rack the collective CP braintrust for some ideas...
I bought a new Bosch dishwasher in January to replace an old dishwasher. It was delivered and installed through the store I purchased it through. We go to run it the first time, get an error code, and phone Bosch. They say we need a tech to come out and check it out. Phone the contracted tech company here in town, they come out, seem to believe its a blocked drainage line, charge us $140 bucks since its not a warranty issue, and told us to call a plumber.
We call a plumber who confirms there is no problem within the line and he believes its the dishwasher is to blame. I phone the tech back who now thinks it may be because the pump can't pump the 8 feet to the sink which I find hard to believe considering it's (allegedly) a high end dishwasher.
We had no problems with our previous dishwasher or our previous line so barring them messing something up during install, I am lead to believe that its obviously the dishwasher that isn't working. I am hesitant to phone the tech back as he's already confident its not the dishwasher and I really have no interest in paying another $140 for him to come out to say its fine.
Speaking with Bosch, they (obviously) leave the determination up to the technician which doesn't help me much either. So do I just return this thing? Its a tad ridiculous we've had three people come out (installers, tech, plumber) and I've had this dishwasher for a month and it still doesn't work. I'm tempted just to return it and say #### it. Do I continue to harass the tech? Try another appliance company? Try to speak to the retailer?

I say return it only because we had a Bosch begin to leak 1 week after the warranty ended (not kidding) and the cost to repair was about $500 for an $800 dishwasher.

Have you called the store that you made the purchase through? I had problems with an LG dishwasher a few years ago, and everything was handled through the store we purchased it from.

Forgot to mention this point. I had phoned Sears right off the bat actually and they said if the machine was installed, it was now a Bosch problem. I also phoned the store themselves when I thought that maybe the installers had caused some damage to the drainage line (before the plumber came) and they just gave me another 1-800 number. But I plan on dropping by there later today to hash it out face to face with someone.

The first thing you should have done when they wanted to charge you $140 and not cover it is return it.
The store installed it and it never worked from the first time you operated it. I'm shocked you even paid $140 for someone to look at it. Either there is something wrong with the dishwasher or it was installed incorrectly.
On a side note when installing a dishwasher there is usually a drain plug/screw that needs to be removed. When my dishwasher was installed the entire cycle would run fine however there would be 1-2cm of water in the bottom of the washer.
The tech from Trail came and looked at it (for free) and was done in 30 seconds.

Well, I sure have wouldn't have paid for it, but I was at work and my wife was at home and usually avoids confrontation. Someone else mentioned the drain plug, but I would kinda hope a tech would have checked for that...

Interesting, we dealt with Trail and they eventually replaced the LG dishwasher (that was off warranty) with a Bosch. All we paid was the installation fee.
I just bought a Bosch cook top and a wall oven from Sears Home. Sounds like I can't expect the same level of service if something goes wrong.

I plan on going in there in an hour or so and speaking with someone in person.
Surprisingly, we had amazing good sales service....but so far that's where it seems to have stopped.

Did you contact Sears before calling Bosch? If you didn't I'm sure they would come out and fix the issue with the install. If you did and they said it is ok then I'd just return it for sure.

Yeah they're words were pretty much "if the install has been complete, it is now bosch's responsibility". Despite the fact me telling them that the thing has never cleaned a single dish ever since its installation.

And I'm assuming the old dishwasher had no issues with the length? Shouldn't matter all that anyways unless it's 8' straight up and that obviously isn't the case here.

Yeah none at all. It was a entry level kitchen aid and we replaced it as we're slowly replacing all the appliances...not due to its performance.

did you try googling the error code?
i know i came across an appliance repair fourm (similr to CP) that provided me with a little inishgt when my washer was on the fritz.
Lastly, it might be worth calling anotehr tech to have a look at it. When I was having problems with my washer, I called one place and the guy could not figure out the isse - eventually the shop told me they could not fix my machine and they gave me back my money. Called Sears and the guy came twice (one to diagnos and one to replace teh part) and fixed the problem.......
otherwise, keep being persistent with sears and try and get them to replace this unit

What kind of response is that from Sears? Haha they could have pushed the thing under the counter and said there you go all installed. Enjoy your new dishwasher.
I'd be in Sears and refusing to leave until one of the following are done:
1. They come pick it up and you get a full refund.
2. They get the ####in thing working.
If they do neither I hope you paid on a credit card. Then call your CC company and file a dispute that they sold and delivered a non working product.
