Best comment I heard so far, Montreal finally adds some size for a playoff run!
That's about all Dubnyk brings, Price must be out for a while.

More retained salary? I knew that contract was terrible but how much are the Habs actually paying? League minimum?

What does future considerations actually mean? Is it a quantifiable asset? Or can NSH come back two years later and be like "he plays 40 games for you and has good numbers, we want a 4th rounder"?

If the max salary retention is 50%, can two teams retain 50% thus paying 100% of the salary, or can you only retain 50% of the balance, leaving 25% left?
I wonder how many times that can happen, if someone gets flipped over and over again.

You know you suck when the only way you're able to stay in the league is if your salary is divided amongst 3 teams.

I expect that the deal is pretty concrete on paper and the media only reports 'future considerations' to make it digestible.

I hope he develops into a 1B goalie just to laugh at the Oilers.

Only two teams can retain salary on any one contract I believe. Dubby is now as cheap as he can be.
It will be hilarious if Edmonton is still paying the most though!

Devan Dubnyk comes cheap for #habs. The #oilers were already eating half of his $3.5M salary and the #preds are eating another 25 per cent.

Edmonton will be paying him the most, they retained 50% of his original salary when dealt to Nashville, so they were paying 50/50. Nashville can now retain up to 50% of what THEY are obligated to pay (50% of his original), which means, retaining even 1% leaves Edmonton writing the biggest pay cheque.
If Nashville retains the full 50%, Edmonton pays 50% of the original Salary, and Nashville and Montreal pay 25% each.
Stupid Oilers.
