Default Burke Deadline Action Poll

this may be a repeat but I hate burying polls in 46 page discussions.

What will the man do in the next 4 days?

Re-sign Butler to Girardi money.

Stempniak for a 3-4th round pick, and Cammy for a 2nd and a C prospect.

Not expecting much because I don't think any of our traceable players hold much value.

I voted for the obvious ones, but I also have a feeling that Glencross gets moved. If there is a 'hockey trade' I think it involves him.

I voted for the 3 UFA's. While a hockey deal would be exciting I don't think Burke is going to make one

Name himself as the General Manager for the next 3 years.

Actually as much as I like Cammalleri, I really think it is time to trade him because I thought he doesn't fit in this team. The last time I've seen the Flames games, it looks like he seems lost playing with Monahan's line or any other line. I am hoping Burkie can get a lot for him but I doubt that would happen. With the salary cap, not a lot of teams can try to trade for him without giving up a bad contract player.

I think one of Wideman or Hudler will go, and I wouldn't be shocked if Glencross is also dealt. Realistically, the Flames will be able to replace Glencross with a player nearly 10 years his junior next year (Poirier) that will do most of the same things.

I do believe a big hockey trade is coming, in addition to or part of a Cammalleri deal.

First, they only acquire a fraction of his contract (roughly 25%, depending on how many games they have remaining).

Second, the Flames have already stated that they are willing to retain salary.

Even a team really tight to the cap could take on Cammalleri. If the Flames retained half his salary, a team would need only about $0.75M in space to take him on.

Edit: Capgeek provides a number below the cap space calculation called Deadline Space. It is the amount of contract that the team can take on at the deadline. So if the Flames were to retain half his salary, that number would have to be $3m. (Note: it isn't always accurate due to things like bonuses, but it is a good guide)

I voted he does nothing. Mainly due to the fact when I start hoping for lots of moves nothing usually ends up happening. I'm hoping the opposite is true this year.

I don't know if there will be multiple trades but I expect him to pull something off and Cammalleri is likely the one to go. After him I feel Butler would be the next pending UFA to garner the most interest. Stempniak isn't going to fetch much given his awful season but if a team is looking to bolster their 3rd line he may become attractive for a 4th round pick.

On the TSN interview Thursday night, he brought up Glencross when Duthie asked about other possible moves.

I think he trades at least one of the non-UFA players. I went with Wideman as the most likely, but I think Hudler could also be the one. Glencross would surprise me more... but I guess it's possible.

I left Butler off because of his injury. Not sure about the severity, but it seems like it's possible that would be enough to keep him from being traded.
