While it is dumb, how does this differ from a hair transplant to the top of the head? Also the increased rates may be indicative of a rise in the number of people who are getting sex changes so that their sex matches their gender and not just a bunch of hipsters.

To me it sucks, living in Bama we obviously have a lot of Rednecks and beards have been in style since the civil war here. Now bring on duck dynasty and all the hipsters and we have this.

Had a full beard since the Flames playoff run in 2004, I just thought that it looked good on me so I kept it. I have no idea when the trend started, but I assume I had a beard "pre-trend". I did, however, inspire at least 4 or 5 different friends of mine to grow full beards because they liked the way it looked on me, but I think only 1 or 2 stuck with it.
BTW, quick tip, if you actually do grow a beard make sure you use conditioner at least once a week to keep it soft, otherwise the ladies will hate it.

My fat polak face is in the exact same boat. I went 33 years without any facial hair and have spent the last 16 smoke free months with a "beard". I miss my clean shaven face but need to lose the chins first.

Maybe "coolness" takes a while to travel south, but having a beard has been a staple of the hipster for at least a decade.
