First time I've ever started a football thread.
Not a massive CFL fan, but I do follow the Stamps casually.
But watching the game tonight with a cold brewskie, I'm amazed the Stamps record isn't a little better this year.
The Stamps running game is destroying the Lions defence so far.........no answers from Wally Buono yet.
14-3 for Stamps after the 1st quarter............very imprsseive game so far for Calgary.

I can't beleive this game. Theres nothing we can do against Dickenson and these absolute lasers he keeps throwing, just amazing how he can throw so perfectly, with pressure, no look, everything. As close as you can to being automatic out there.
And I mean our D hasn't been amazing, but there were a ton of passes where we could do absolutely nothing.
Hank is at least making this a game. We're still alive.

After starting 14-3, the Stamps were outscored 37-13. Seems like Double D handed it to us.
Hopefully our D can make some adjustments...

Yeah Dickenson was really unstoppable. Can't blame Burris for this game. Though I would wish the running game was more of a factor in the 2nd half.

The refs decided this one....
B.C. likely would have prevailed in the end, but pathetic calls gave B.C. the 10 point lead they needed to put them over the top..
Why can't the Stamps put it together consistently? The offense was incredible tonight, but our defense couldn't do anything. If both can play to their potential consistently the Stamps are a legimate contender.

I just can't blame this one on the Defense. Dickenson just threw these incredible passes and when he didn't throw it perfectly, his receivers bailed him out.
There was almost no errent throws, not a lot of drops... no bounces.
And we couldn't stop the QB who was absolutely in the zone.

I know what you mean, but you've got to come up with a play sometimes. I can only recall one play all game where our DB had good coverage and broke up the ball (Ben Kelly before O'Mahoney pinned us deep and the refs cheated Jenkins out of a big played).

Well, watching the first quarter, and listening to the majority (until it was 29-27...5 mins later it is 37-27??) of the game on radio, sounds like the Stampeders played very well.
We can't be expected to match BC's scoring evey drive. We did until the 4th, and those are positive signs. Dickenson complted 16 in a row at one point, and ended up at his league average 75% completeion percentage.
There's no way any team beat this BC team...but we decided to slow them up by injuring 2 receivers it looks like.
Another positive step forward for this team IMO. We play like that offensively, being able o move the ball at will and BC is the only team that can beat us in the league at this point.
Defense, tough to get a read on. Not going to hack on, because of Dickenson's sick numbers.

I was at the game tonight. Not much the Stamps could have done. They lost to a better team.
Althought the terrible penalties in the 3rd quarter really hurt. Burris passed for a 15 yard gain only to have some moron beak at the ref and then have a penalty for 15 yards against. Tlak about taking the wind out of the sails. The Stamps have themselves to blame and no one else.
BC also made some great adjustments against the run in the 2nd quarter. Too bad we weren't able to run at all past the 15 minute mark.

Well Dickenson is certainly showing why Wally Buono likes him so much. Some of those throws were absolutely perfect. As a defender all you can do is hope that the receivers drop a few of those which really didn't happen.
