Flames Prospect Kulak faces criminal charges
http://www.cknw.com/2013/11/08/vanco...with-criminal/
Quote:
Two Vancouver Giants – including the team’s leading scorer – are facing criminal charges.
19-year old defenceman Brett Kulak and 18-year old right winger Jackson Houck are each charged with assault causing bodily harm.
Kulak – who’s the team’s top scorer – faces a second charge of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
CKNW has learned the charges stem from an August 18th house party in Delta, but the details are not clear.
Both men have had three court appearances so far.

Why do so many Flames prospects do crap like this off the ice?

Presumably assaulting Canuck fans? Mixed emotions.

The second story involving Flames and Oilers players. Jackson Houck is an Oilers prospect. I'll wait to hear until more details come out.

This doesn't bother me. I'm not terribly concerned with the personal lives of most players, and I find this unlikely to affect his development.
Too bad though, hate to see anyone make a mistake that gets them in trouble with the law, hopefully he can move past it.

Sorry, no excuses. You've been drafted into the most elite hockey league in the world, and your team is expecting you to shine on and off the ice.
No amount of dismissal on this issue should be warranted.
Act like a professional if you want to be one.

Uttering threats is normally not a big problem, but assault causing bodily harm definitely carries the possibility of some serious jeopardy depending on the circumstances.

Is there more than this and Ferland?
If so I am not sure 2 is so many or an indication of anything more than coincidence.

Some of you guys should be banned from posting in these threads....seriously.
We have noooooo frik kin idea what happened and you are ready to just crap on this guy, ridiculous. There are a hundred scenarios where he did either nothing wrong or did what stupid teenagers do.
Give one guy the benefit of due process before you completely crap on him ffs. I am willing to crap all over him if it is proven that he is a db but c'mon.
And yeah, I know from experience. Assault causing bodily harm can be big guy hits harder than little guy and big guy is an NHL draft pick so bingo.

Didn't Brett Sutter have a little bit of trouble a few years back?
Not exactly an enormous sample, but 3 incidents in the last 3 years is enough of a pattern to raise some eyebrows.

I thought Ryder's troubles started after he left hockey.

Yep forgot about that one.
Maybe an issue but since all 3 were with different teams and only one with the Flames organization seems like more of a coincidence but maybe a chance for the team to use these as examples for anyone they draft that you need to be careful how you handle yourself in these situations and perhaps some activities need to be curtailed or handled differently than pre-draft even if that seems a little unfair.
