Icon30 Chicago trades Pirri to the Panthers for 2014 3rd & 2016 5th

Dan Rosen @drosennhl
Hawks trade Brandon Pirri to Panthers for 2 draft picks. Quenneville never liked Pirri b/c of his defense. Led AHL in scoring last season.

a 3rd this year and a 2016 5th according to Pagnotta ... seems pretty cheap IMO

Panthers announce they've acquired F Brandon Pirri from the Blackhawks for a 2014 3rd RD pick and a 2016 5th RD pick

Depending on what the picks are that could be a good grab for the furballs.
Edit: Seeing what the picks are good deal for the kitties.

Renaud Lavoie @LavoieRenaud
Brandon Pirri asked for a trade a few weeks ago. Hawks just traded him to the Panthers. #tvasports

Seems about right.... not established as a full-time NHLer and not an elite prospect. Florida will give him a shot.

Pirri has the same holes in his game that Rene Bourque did when we got him. He's a good secondary scorer, but his lack of an overall game will limit him unless he improves. Going to the Panthers will be beneficial for both him and the cats.

Should do okay down there. Tallon drawing from the well he knows so well again this year. Hayes and Pirri.

For that price I'm disappointed he's not a flame. Project for sure but hasn't had much of a pro shot...could flourish with ice time.

IMO Pirri is most likely Sam Gagner v2.0.

I agree, although between the two, I'd take Gagner easily.

I suppose it wouldn't have hurt but Calgary does have Reinhart, Granlund and Knight at centre as prospects and on the big club, there's Monahan, Backlund and even Colborne even though he's recently moved to the wing.

Would've been tough to fit Pirri in and the current prospects seem to perhaps be better fits for bottom 6 centre roles than Pirri would given the chatter about his lack of defensive play.

From the sounds of it Quenneville wasn't a fan of his. Probably was never going to get a good shot with Chicago. Pretty much buried on the depth chart. Bowman also said yesterday that there is a good chance that Teuvo Teravainen will be joining the Hawks after Jokerit's season.

Seems cheap for him, if it helps Florida this year it is a win for us.

Like Pirri. Good player, lost in shuffle in Chicago system.

Hawks fans in general seem to be quite disappointed in the return.

Well, the return for him was garbage. It would be like us trading Sven for a 2nd and a 4th if that.
