I love garlic! While it is healthy I think you are over exaggerating it's benefits, but yeah, I love the stuff. Never really had a problem with odor. Or maybe it's cause the whole family likes it so we stink together and don't notice. Though I've never heard anyone complain.

I can post few studies from medical journal later ..which can prove my claims.
For now, if you can get hand on "Garlic the mighty bulb" by Natasha Edward it a good place to start

You should change the thread title to "Super Foods" if that's what you want to talk about!
Personally, nothing beats a glass of red wine. Good for you all over! I also add chia seeds to most smoothies. Adds a good bit of texture and they're great for you.

I recently overheard someone at an restaurant asking for no dressing on their salad because they were about to meet some people and didn't want to offend the person. Do you find it offensive ?

Is it necessary to eat it raw? I mean, if its crushed up in some vinaigrette it is okay, but raw garlic is a bit harsh. Do the effects of cooking it diminish the positive effects entirely?

When I lived in Lake Louise all the hippies espoused the same thing, which made me skeptical. Is there scientific data to support your claim?

The hippies I was talking about above would slice it into slivers, then put it in those two-piece capsules, then swallow a metric fata-ton of it. They sure didn't seem any healthier than anybody else.

The active molecule relating to these effects of garlic is allicin which has many demonstrated beneficial in vitro effects that have more difficulty being translated in vivo. For example, ethanol (alcohol found in drinks), bleach and fire have a very high antibacterial killing rate. Ingesting them does not continue that beneficial effect. There are some promising small studies that I've come across, but nothing big enough for me to get behind.
As an aside, I would like to point out that penicillin is in fact "nature's penicillin"

It's no erythromycin, that's for sure.

Not a food - but I'd read about jojoba oil doing wonders for hair and skin. Has anyone tried this stuff?

Well, even though I think the whole 'superfood' phenomenon is mostly a marketing thing, there's no reason we can't discuss healthy foods, or what we've heard are healthy (and then discuss). Especially if it's like Troutman said, and showcases good foods that are common, and not exotic.
On that note, I'd like to say they tomatoes are supposedly very good for you. While long thought as kinda a nothing food, it's been shown they have high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants among other benefits.

I've been eating garlic everyday for a couple of months now. I buy it at Sobeys in an oil, It's right beside the yummy feta stuffed red peppers in oil.
It's hard to say if I benefit health wise from it as I'm pretty healthy for the most part and rarely get the flu or a cold. One thing I noticed though, that I think I can contribute to the garlic is it sure makes you regular.
Here' some things I eat pretty much every day. The super food aspects of any of these is debatable.
Blueberries
bran
flax
yogurt
garlic
orange, apple
carrots, celery
mushrooms
dark chocolate
olives(that's not every day, more like a couple of times a week)
multi vitamin
vitamin C
omega 3.
coffee.
