Default "Thank you" medal for Junio

A Toronto design firm is croudsourcing for a "thank you" medal for Junio.

Part of me thinks it's a nice gesture, but another part of me thinks that considering the publicity they'll get, it's a bit greedy of them to crowdsource it instead of just be funding it themselves.

It would be nice if, instead of these tributes and all to Gil after the fact, that people simply show up and cheer for him at his next race. Time after time I'm just sitting there with the athlete's friends and family.

I'm sure he'd appreciate that the most.

This is kinda lame and I don't know the guy, but I don't think he would like it either.

$2500 to fly him out to toronto to pick up the medal?

My 6 yr old son just took up speed skating this year. He enjoyed meeting Gil Junio at one of the fund raising events his team of speed skaters (including the Greggs) had pre-Sochi.

We will try to get to the actual competition races.

I know at beginning of the season the Calgary association had him as a guest speaker.

Wish him all the best - and somehow he 'knew' Morrison was going to have a great race!
