Ladies or Women's?
I'm confused, I keep seeing both terms used to describe female Olympic events.
If it's Ladies, then why not Gentlemen for the men's events.
Which term is actually correct?

It depends on the events:
Ladies: all skiing, all figure skating,
Women's: biathlon, all sliding, curling, hockey

They're interchangable depending on the event.

But why? Seems a tad bizarre.

I'm sure that Olympics just uses whatever terminology each sport's federation uses. And each federation probably has some longstanding tradition to back up their choice. I doubt any of the federations thought about whether it would be weird at the Olympics or not.

It's a traditional thing. Although, it would make sense to have them all the same across the board.

In Swedish I'm pretty sure that we use the equivalent of "Ladies". at the Olympics. Can't think of a sport where this isn't the case.

Because if a woman has a gun, a wooden stick, or a giant rock in her hands, you don't dare risk that she might be offended by the word 'lady'.
