Default Joining furniture together?

So I have a 3 piece sectional and 2 the chaise and the back piece are locked together by a bracket. But the back piece and the right arm piece are not.

Is it a bad idea to try and just cut a hole in the fabric for a bracket on the side missing it? I tried fastening the bottom pieces but it's very difficult to do as the screws don't seem to hold. The sectional legs are also at a slope, so I can't just bind them with something.

Ideas?

could you take some larger pictures of the couch so we can see how it functions? It may be enough to install a bracket underneath to use a low profile nut/washer/bolt configuration.

There should be a couple of good mounting points underneath the couch where the load is carried, which is where I would start. Flip 'er over, take some shots and let's see what you've got.

Have you tried calling a furniture joiner?

I actually wound up calling sears and they're sending a "furniture medic" to see what they can do. I find it ridiculous they'd sell a sectional that doesn't attach to all parts.
