What if?
File this under coulda, woulda, shoulda, but it's interesting to think where this team would be at, had there been a few minor differences this season.
What if Ramo did take 2 months to find his game?
What if Russell and Giordano stayed healthy?
If both those happened, is it feasible to think we'd be competing for the final playoff spot? Or am I just getting drunk off our 5 game streak?

What if Backlund put it all together at the beginning of the year. What if Bart came in with a complete 200 ft game?

what if we played the stupid nucks on the first game of the season and crap went down then...The way Hartley has the team playing since then makes you wish it happened a long time ago!

We'd probably have a few more years of that ever so comfortable 9th place... A better question is, what if we traded thos guys in their primes and started a rebuild a long time ago, would we have another cup by now or just be contenders

All valid questions. I'm just wondering specifically about this year though. If Ramo was the last 2 months version all year and Gio and Russell avoided the injury bug could be be a playoff bubble team? Having Backlund play at this level all season, and Baertschi not regress a little, would've definitely helped too.

The what if game is always interesting, but I think that the most logical conclusion when it comes to the what ifs, is that the playoff teams have a bunch of what ifs as well, that could have them in 2nd place instead of 7th or 8th.
Every team tends to have a bunch of what ifs, you just never really notice what ifs on other teams, just your own. If your team has what ifs every year that could put you in the playoffs, and yet are rarely in the playoffs, it's likely because they are around where they should be.

If all the "what if's" happened, the Flames would probably be Stanley Cup champions.

We are not Stanley Cup champions? Did they revoke the one we won in 89?

It's just a winning streak.
There is still lots and lots of losing ahead of us

Then the nucks would be just like the flames of 09. Team in their prime, destined for a cup but constantly falling on their face and on the brink of a full blown rebuild.
