Default Petition to White House - Fund a death star, WH responds

Quote:
Secure resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016.

Those who sign here petition the United States government to secure funding and resources, and begin construction on a Death Star by 2016.

This Isn't the Petition Response You're Looking For

By Paul Shawcross
The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn't on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:
  • The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.
  • The Administration does not support blowing up planets.
  • Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

Plus if the U.S. government tried to build it, none of the bathrooms would work, there'd be escalators that went no where and the super laser might be able to light a cigar.

Then the administration would blame some third party contractor for the construction of it when clearly the government designers wanted a unshielded thermal exhaust port right above the main port.

Didn't this make the rounds somewhere around the end of the first Funny and Cool thread?

Ron Paul probably had a field day knowing the administration actually responded to the poll.

I also like the DEPORT JUSTIN BIEBER poll that is making the main page of the Petitions White House website. I don't mind if they keep him though, we don't want him back either.
