Saw this coming. There was no way either of these guys were going to free agency.
Always been a big Thornton fan, hope he wins a cup before he retires.

Would love to have either on the Flames - talk about stability for the youngsters. Imagine what Monahan could learn from those guys...

Fantastic deal. I guess Thornton will be buying dinner, because he gets the extra 90K per year.

Me too. Hopefully in Detroit or Chicago and not SJ.

Thornton for Marco Sturm, Wayne Primeau and Brad Stuart
Did Darryl try to get Thornton from the Bruins? Regehr, Kobasew and Yelle, or did I imagine that?

Good signings because they kept the term down to 3 years - any longer and the guys are getting pretty long in the tooth at the end of it.
And cap hit in the sixes for these guys (well Thornton for sure) is good value

If I recall correctly, we offered:
Kobesew, Leopold, Yelle
They wanted Regehr instead of Leopold.

Good value, great term. Finish the deal and still have a few years to go elsewhere for their Cup if need be..

Assuming those 2 finish up their careers around the time those contracts expire, I wonder how well the Sharks will fill the void?
