Default Bob "FRIKEN" Hartley

Guys a boss, gets a team who has no business ever winning a game competing and being in every game.

Get's in a line brawl last night, Torts is yelling at him, and he pretends like he doesn't hear him.

Proceeds to look like a boss in the hallway with Martin "max payne" Gelinas still chewing bubble gum like its no big deal.

I haven't liked our coaching staff since Daryl but I have to say im a huge fan, sign all these guys to extensions, beautys.

I would chew gum too if Grats was standing between me and almost anyone not armed with a firearm.

Even the coaches are bigger with Grats here.

Big points from me as well. Team really needed that to pull together. Doesn't buy into any of Torts' crap, and that's coming from a Torts fan.

Loved the serious yet nonchalant look Gelinas had the whole time. Huge bonus points for Malarchuk too. Effing hilarious

Gotta say I have been a huge fan of his all year. Contrary to what some sayninthink he is a great coach for the rebuild. Good team culture, positive guy

Canucks can't take these anymore, afraid of losing the game and losing the face. Patch works everywhere from top down to the fans. Good luck!!

Now question, does the work Freaking / Fricking / Frickin' has become Friken? How does it pronounce?

Flames might be near the bottom, but I really loved how Hrudey and the other announcer (forget his name) went out of their way multiple times last night to compliment the coaching staff for the job they've done with the Flames all season. Yes we suck and lack talent/finishers, but things like effort, conditioning, and game preparation can still be instilled. From that will come a solid foundation from which to build once we have the right pieces. There's no other coach I want behind the Flames' bench during this rebuild then Hartley and his staff. I hope the future GM takes a long hard look at them and sees just how well they prepare this team to play most nights.

I read it as Fry-kin. And in my head it was Hartley's accent

The Flames have recently lost games 6-0, 5-0, 5-2 and 4-2 yet they are in every game?

I like what he did last night but he has been an awful coach for the Flames and was anawful coach in his two previous stints as well.

Thanks for last night Hartley but now you can GTFO.

That was coaching genius last night....sign him to a logo go type deal 15 years at $6 million per.......no other coach could have pulled that off last night.......

Consider the jack Adams award race over.

You have to look at the whole picture, I agree, but you're probably also guilty for not doing that. In its entirety, the Flames have stuck to the system implemented by the staff and are out there battling probably close to 100% of the time.

The results aren't there and nobody can / will argue that, but it's a good thing that the roster isn't succeeding due to lack of effort or buy-in by the players.

The talent just isn't there, but that will improve.

I'd tend to trust a guy with Burke's hockey experience when he says the Flames have a great coaching staff, as well as comments according to him by other circles around the NHL.

Hartley played Torts like a fiddle, kudos.

Is he the best coach? No. Is he a coach that has a shelf life going far past this season? I seriously doubt it.

But does respect deserve to be paid and a tip of the hat for this horrendous team's work ethic?
Yeah, I don't see how you can deny him that.

Name one GM that has ever said that his current coaching really is bad and lucky to be coaching at this level and is just waiting to replace them...

Ya, I think for Burke he is the right guy for this year. We are losing, but the Oiler attitude/culture hasn't set in. They still have pride. Yet the are losing and getting a better pick. It really is a good mix right now.

He's probably gone after this season, or if the team starts giving up mid season like the Oilers. Until then losing with pride may just get him to April.

It sure is a lot easier coaching for effort when 2/3 of your team sees that if Hartley doesn't like the way they are playing they could be in the AHL next week.

Last year when he had a full squad of NHLers (a team getting paid to the top of the cap) he didn't get squat for effort or results out of them. They finished the worst in Flames history.

When Hartley is let go in June does anyone think he will ever coach in the NHL again?

I'd go with zero.

But for cases where a GM thinks his coaching staff sucks, he likely doesn't go out of his way to praise them and provide details / examples on why they are doing a great job.

Which Burke has done.
