Default February 25, just one game!!

The NHL OOT is back after a 17 day Olympic hiatus! It is Tuesday night hockey. The Olympic break is actually one day shorter than scheduled due to a severe snowstorm in Buffalo exactly seven weeks ago which postponed the game until today. It is nice to hear the national anthems again before the puck is dropped. Remember, NHL rules and regulations with each player taking a turn at the shootout, the rink is narrower by 4.5 metres, and it is hybrid icing. It is nice having games starting in the afternoon or early evening again instead of the middle of the night. We are reminded to what Europeans and Russians go through to watch NHL players at odd hours.

Game began at 1700h

in the USA

at

It is currently scoreless in the second period of play. Carolina out shot
the Sabres 11-5 in the first period and have a 5-0 edge in shots early in
the second period. Ward and Miller are the goalies.

Ehrhoff scores a power play goal on just the Sabres sixth shot of the game. The assists came from Stafford and Miller, 1-0 Buffalo.

I was cheering for Buffalo but it doesn't make any difference who wins or if it's a threee point game. Buffalo is 13 points behind us and Carolina is 10 points ahead of us. Nothing is going to change as far as the Flames are concerned.

It is the proverbial big game for the Hurricanes as they are three points back of the Red Wings for the last playoff spot and five points behind the Flyers for third place in the division.

Eric Staal ties the game, 1-1 after two periods.

Buffalo wins, 3-2. Ehrhoff wins it with his 2nd goal of the game, at 19:16 of the 3rd, assisted by Ryan Miller.

How they start Cam Ward over Khudobin makes no sense.

Woohoo, the daily OOT is back. The season is 2/3 of the way through so let the stretch drive to the playoffs begin. Fasten your seatbelts, it'll be interesting. Okay, it was Miller time in many ways for the Sabres. It wasn't a 6 pack, it was 3 cases of Miller. This guy did it all as he faced 38 shots and helped out offensively with 2 assists, one of them being the game winning assist. The Sabres are nuts if they trade him, he is the franchise.

They would be even crazier to let him walk as a UFA. If Miller doesn't want to re-sign with Buffalo, their only choice is to trade him for the best return possible.

Good to see NHL hockey again, looking forward to Flames action Friday morning!
