Garrioch: Kings, Canucks and Red Wings interested in Cammalleri
http://www.ottawasun.com/2014/01/18/...ike-cammalleri
Quote:
Making $6 million in the final year of his contract, he’s coveted by several teams and we’re told Flames president of hockey operations Brian Burke has been getting phone calls from contenders who are willing to ante up to get Cammalleri.
Sources say the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings all have an interest in Cammalleri. It’s believed Kings coach Darryl Sutter and Detroit’s Mike Babcock would both welcome him.
Cammalleri has been in L.A. before so it would be a nice fit but there’s a chance the Montreal Canadiens may try to bring him back.

But if he is traded to Vancouver, I'd have to hate him!

Ya, I don't want Cammy going to Vancouver. Mainly that is because I'd like to see him win the cup. Hopefully the Kings give up their first and a reasonable prospect.

He goes to LA, we watch Regehr, Cammy, and Sutter (again) with the cup.
Problem solved.
Alternatively, Iggy wins it with Boston and I shed manly tears.

I would doubt, definitely after today, that the Canucks would be who we trade with...
but if that is the place it better be for a damn lot, a deal that you can't say no to.

I'd rather have Vancouver's first, especially if they missed the playoffs

Ya but then Cammy couldn't possibly win the cup.
And we'd have to take a prospect that has the stink on him.

The way Cammy left Montreal, I doubt they bring him back. Too many of the same players, and leaders, that he called losers are still there.

Huge slab of salt with this one.
It is Garrioch.
All teams listed are up against the cap or in LTIR.
No mention of Philly when one of the beat writers said to look to Cammalleri. Also, NYR was interested at draft and they have cap space.
Vancouver not interested in rental, Gillis has gone on record.
Holland wouldn't give up a first for Bouwmeester who had term left, why would he for Cammy?
Kings make most sense of teams listed but how do they shoehorn him under cap? Difficult to do so even if we retain half salary, go to capgeek and try, I dare you.

Trade him right after the Olympic break in the oft chance he gets hurt again before the deadline. We honestly can't risk Cammy getting hurt since the rest of our expected UFA's won't bring significant returns.
First rounder and a decent prospect, or a nice prospect like Tatar, Depres or Toffoli (fingers crossed). Don't think the Canucks have a prospect outside of Horvat that's interesting on a one for one proposal. Although I wonder what Burke's thoughts are on Shinkaruk.

Have we forgotten Cammy is concussed? There is no assurance that he'll be back in a week.

I'd be glad to have Cammy in LA. Line him up with Richards and we have fire power from all 3 lines (as if we didn't already). I'd say a 1st round pick comes back the Flames' way with someone like King (I can see Burke targeting) or possibly Toffoli

A first and toffoli would be quite the overpayment imo. But I'd take it in a heartbeat

They would drop a player off their roster if they got Cammy. They currently have 2.3 million available at the deadline. Assuming they give us only picks and non-roster guys... the Flames retain 50% and they demote Tanner Pearson or Linden Vey.. and they have room.

I don't care where he goes as long as it's to the team that pays the most for him. I would LOVE a bidding war on him as teams act stupid at the deadline. It's our turn to cash in!

Much happier Burke is handling the Cammalleri trade scenario instead of Feaster.
