Apparently the Smid trade gives them the necessary cap space to go get him:

Well….at least Bryz would find a way to add some entertainment to an already lost season.

If it's for more than 1 year…crazy

They Oilers just traded an NHL defenceman (which they are in desperate lack of) for prospects in order to sign a headcase of a goaltender for a multi-year contract. We thought that the Oilers had hit rock bottom, but it looks like MacT just pulled out a shovel

Bryzgalov is the kind of crazy that can literally steal a season for a team, then the next year he falls flat on his face, I think he's done that in every market he's played in so far. He's the epitome of the changing face of how goalies are valued in today's NHL.

He'll probably just be really entertaining for the other 29 teams though. Low risk, but goaltending isn't THE problem for Edmonton. Just watch the two Stamkos goals last night vs the Oilers to see how soft and stupid their forwards are. The first one being Yakupov then Eberle who couldn't accept an easy pass by Ference and then just stupidly tried to corral it back by flipping it to himself.

A talented but stupid group of forwards that no goalie can overcome.
