Default LF - NES and SNES systems and games

I'm looking for an old NES and SNES system and hopefully some games. I'm checking here because kijiji and ebay seem to think they are worth a fortune recently and I'm trying to play some old games. I used to have a decent collection but had to sell on here due to storage constraints years ago. Let me know if you have anything, I'm not looking to resell it.

Thanks

Found my original sale post, its to bad all of the pictures are gone from it I remember it was a pretty stacked collection and I think it sold for like $120.

Check out video game trader on centre street, the only place I know that sells retro cartriges. They even have a new hybrid snes/nes retro gaming machine that is not affiliated with nintendo if you can't find an original system.

It might make more sense to pick up a Wii and play games downloaded from the store.

I have a wii, I have a wiiU hate playing retro games on it. I have an emulator on my PC with all of the games its not the same. Video Game Trader is and always has been the biggest ripoff reseller out there. I have been going there since they were called the toy trader and actually used to let you trade your games on a scale.

How about flea markets anyone know of any worth checking out? I'm trying to get back into the old systems without losing my shirt.

Edit:

I appreciate your suggestions though, thanks

Don't fall into the trap and buy from Game City or places like that. Their prices are a huge scam compared to normal prices. Just keep looking in second hand stores like Value Village or on kijiji and a decent listing will surely show up.

Flea market might be a good idea as well if there is a decent one in Calgary.

Best advice I can give is to hit up garage sales, I'm an avid collector of NES and to a lesser extent snes games, places like videogame trader are great if you have a specific game in mind and don't mind paying 5-10x what a game is actually worth, garage sales you can usually buy bigger lots for cheap. I post this fully aware that it's the middle of winter and garage sales aren't exactly in season but that is the best advice I can give.

If you have any specific games or hardware in mind send me a pm and I can check my storage to see if I have any doubles I'd be willing to part with.

Those vendors always overprice their stuff, but you can usually haggle a fair bit if you buy several games

I really should have just hung on to all this old stuff in an attic or something. I wonder what my Turbografx would be worth at this point...

A little off-topic: does anyone know if there is any danger of ruining or damaging a plasma TV with one of the old systems? (NES, SNES, etc)

Just happened to find my old NES and Duck Hunt, last night, and I'm thinking of setting it up.

Duck Hunt may or may not work on LCDs and Plasmas - http://gaming.stackexchange.com/ques...or-lcd-screens

I know that doesn't answer your question about damaging the screen but will save you some grief when you're wondering why it's not working.

I used to see NES systems and games at Cash Converters. The one I would check was on Northmount Dr when I lived in that area but I think its closed now.

One time when I worked at EB Games a guy brought in some SNES games to trade in. We, of course, didn't accept them (about 4 years ago). I ended up buying Final Fantasy VI (III) and Killer Instinct off him for $20 cash

Damn I have an old NES with around 30 games that I rarely play anymore. With the NES I think most games suck haha. I have a few good games though.
I would love to have Zelda and paperboy. Those are the two I don't have but remember the most from my childhood.

How much are systems going for these days?

Rare games are usually worth more than the system, but you should have no trouble getting $40-60 for it if you include a Mario game or something.

Listed on Kijiji right now from $100-$300 which is a bit crazy, the problem lately is someone is buying up any regular priced systems and jacking the prices up. Games will range based on demand.
