I love watching videos like this one. Really see how often they are in the way and how tough it is for them to see everything. It seems they are becoming somewhat more common in the lower leagues, I hope the Heat are involved soon.

Great video! Really makes you appreciate what refs have to go through.
Also made me think they should make a video game where you play the ref, and you are scored on the things like missed calls, bad calls, in the way of the puck, etc.

Wow. Obvious but not an easy job when you're being criticized by fans and players alike for every decision you do or don't make.
Would love to see more (especially WITH the audio)
I cannot believe that with the quality of images you get back from the ref cam, that it is not used more in hockey broadcasts (no audio of course).
I think the problem is that you'd need a transmitter to get the feed from the camera to the production truck, which would significantly increase the weight you're asking the ref to carry.

IMO, one of the best ideas not widely adopted yet in hockey. The CAHL (Calgary rec hockey league) has cameras on their refs as well and I have to say that it does cause players to act that little bit more respectful to each other as they know that everything they are doing is likely on one of two cameras.
As good of an idea as it is for the pros, I really think it should be in use all the way down to minor hockey. Think of how all those monster parents would react to having a video of them acting crazy at a Pee Wee hockey game.
