As usual, I anticipate the release of all the weirdest/goofiest names far more.

I have to say, both of those lists are filled with great names not ruined by illiterate spellings. Nice job AB.

exactly. The story behind the one kid named Skeletor is more interesting than the 40 Ethans.

Timely thread. My daughter was born at 552am this morning.
Kaitlin is her name which narrowly edged out Lily.

There are 1-2 of each of my son's hockey team. Not very original.

I started looking at the lists and had to stop because of all the unique snowflake names.

Pretty much all those names mirror the kids in my son's classrooms. Pretty crazy how many people all stick to the trendy names list when naming their kids. I see Matthew finally fell off the list.

Yeah parents do your kid a favour and go off the top lists for names.

We went off top 200 lists and tried not to pick top 10 but nothing outrageous.

Yeah, going too far the other way can be just as bad. But it's bad when you call your kid's name and 4 kids in his class look up lol.

I made the joke when this came up last year that I would name my son Titan.
I'm not sure if it's a joke anymore.

We named our first son Benjamin and at the time it was barely top 20 and he's already got two friends named Ben and as you can see by the list it's gotten more popular. I was always a fan of the name and nobody used it when I was a kid and now there's going to be a generation of them.
I think you have to go out of the top 50 to get a name that's still pretty normal and you are safe from him/her having multiple friends of the same name.

It's amazing how celebrities of the day influence how we name our children.

This is still appropriate, even though it doesn't mention any of the above names. Careful... swearing.
