I saw the episode too and thought it was cool.
I wonder how functional and safe the rollers are for long distance rollerblading or intense level of play roller hockey

Haha, watched it as well. Pretty cool that Treliving's son could be out next GM; who knew he was a hockey guy.

Did anyone else think that whole pitch was more staged than many other reality show stages?
First they show just the skate guard, and the questions are, "oh, just a skate guard, who cares". That sets up the kid coming out on the skate guard with wheels! Now the dragons are perking up. Then they say, "oh but do you have endorsements", and the former NHLer says yes, "Chelios". Then they say, anyone else? The answer, "Oh yeah, this Treliving guy". Who conveniently answers the phone and endorses the pitch person. Then they reach a deal.
It just seemed set up to me, moreso than usual, and that before they got the AGM of the Coyotes on the phone.
Also, I suspect the product sucks. Look at the picture. How does that have any stability? Rollerblades, like skates, take a lot of pressure/force. Imagine taking your rollerblades and attaching an ice attachment. It wouldn't have stability! Turning sharp would cause the attachment to slip off.
To me it seemed they were trying to build hype for the product with the assistance of Dragons Den and the whole thing was predetermined.

^^^^^^ Sounds like we need someone to head on down to:
Adrenaline Source for Sports
9309 Macleod Trail SW. Calgary
403-640-9950
.... and buy a pair and do some product evaluation
Here are some more detailed pics and info on the product.

It looks like the rollerguard is tapered to grab the front of the holder and the strap at the back is designed to be reefed up tight.

I can't say one way or the other how staged the pitches are, but they are heavily edited. The 15-20 minute pitch you see on TV is actually an hour and a half + long pitch edited down.
From there many deals fall through after the show once they are able to actually get their hands on the books, product, research, and really meet the people they are going to be partnering with.
I think most people unless they really need the money to get going just go on the show for the exposure it provides.

Reality TV is scripted?
I think the product is brilliant either way. I don't think it is meant to go head to head with inline skates...it's not a replacement product.
