Driving to Golden, BC Question

Can anyone tell me approx how much of that drive is on an undivided highway?

About 150 KM of it is undivided IIRC.

Doesnt the divide end just after the Lake Louise turnoff?

Yes. But there's a nice stretch up the last pass that's now divided. Put in during the 2010 upgrade bc for the Olympics roadwork. It cut off about 20km and divided about 10-20km too iirc.

From Calgary to Golden, very litte is undivided now. Everything to the BC border is divided and I would guesstimate that only about 30kms of the trip to Golden now is undivided.

I was going to say this as well.

This summer, on the AB side, work was underway to twin right to the border, which should be done by now.


BC has been doing lots of work between the border and Golden as well.


It's mostly just that worst section just before Golden that's undivided now.

Except for getting stuck behind some slowpoke, I enjoyed the two lane twisties a lot. Turning everything into a double lane divided highway takes a lot of the fun of driving away, especially with a Standard transmission car or on a motorbike.
