New versions of ongoing threads

Didn't want to derail the specific threads -- but there's now a V2 of GMG, a V3 of Funny and Cool pictures...what's up? Were the old threads too big and unwieldy, were they causing technical issues with the boards?

I think that was the reason. Not sure if it would be better to rename the old thread instead and keep the current name.

For example, add a suffix to the end that is a date range of the posts, if anybody wants to look it up.

Maybe it would have caused some behind-the-scenes issues though.

I haven't bothered to actually run any specific tests, but "huge threads causing performance issues" does seem to be a thing with some forum software, or at least the idea is out there, and there have been recent comments about forum performance so it doesn't hurt to lock those huge threads to see if it helps.
