Jackets Keep Adding
In a world we live in called the CPHL, the Jackets have stuck to their guns, have built a team that can compete this season and have managed to hold onto all those nice 2014 1st round picks. In recent trade talks, some comments thrown are way have been but are not limited to the following:
"Man your team is old"
"You have no one I like"
"Not interested"
"What happened to your team"
The fact of the matter is, we are winning games, were confident we could AND even though our players are 'older' by CPHL standards, the bottom line is that the key players are:
Highly rated players
Successful CPHL players
Top NHL players
We have traded for old guys like Thornton, Sedin and *gasp* even old man Sharpe at the age of 31. But we are winning.
The Jackets continued to tweak the roster in a recent deal with the Rangers. Even though Plekenec was finally starting to put up some points, we were a little disappointed with his point production and overall we are struggling to score goals. In an attempt to get a 2nd line rolling, we have brought in another sim friendly player in Brooks Laich and veteran dman Jan Hejda. The deal is as follows:
To Rangers:
Tomas Plekanec
Jack Hillen
To Jackets:
Brooks Laich
Jan Hejda
2014 2nd
CPHL rating wise Plekanec and Laich are a wash but Laich is having a much better CPHL season (the same can't be said in the NHL but there is still time to turn that around). Also, Hejda is a nice upgrade and is also having a good NHL season...did I mention he is old as well?
So this season is all about being the best team we can be without trading any of our 1sts. That doesn't mean we won't but it certainly isn't a priority. We also hope that this trade will disrupt the Rangers chemistry and they will come crashing back down to earth after their surprisingly hot start.
