Good. Now trade SOB and Butler. The top five is set. Breen needs that six spot to show what he can do at this level. Don't know what to do with Smith though, I like him but he isn't really trade bait.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why we have this giant pylon cone in our system, let alone on our main squad?

I think you'll see Smith go to the Heat first before anything.

Let's try and stay healthy for a practice or two, Mr. Breen.

Because he has the potential to be a meaner Hal Gill type, and those are REALLY useful.

Can you imagine Breen and Kanzig both panning out and playing on the same line? It would be.the tunnel of death x 2!

That's wishful thinking. He was pretty ho-hum in his only action thus far this season but I would be willing to give him more of a look before letting him go through waivers. With the acquisition of Smid it's probably made SOB expendable which is why we are hearing his name in trade rumours. Problem is that there aren't many teams that desperate to pick up SOB.

Nobody really knows what Breen is capable of in the NHL. Obviously the Flames feel he has potential, and thus are seemingly unwilling to expose him to waivers. I look forward to seeing how he settles in after a 10 or 20 game set at the very least. Would be really nice to have someone this big start making an impact on this team.

What?! You mean you need a larger sample size than training camp and 19 minutes of NHL regular season play to pass judgment?

I agree.
Some people said SOB would provide some needed grit on the team. I haven't seen anything from him in that regard.
Smid has ruffled more feathers in a much shorter period of time.

This year and next, and maybe the next after that is all about putting our young people into the line of fire to see what they can do. If that means 20 games of mediocre play, then that's no worse than SOB provides. If its slightly above average then we might just have a decent player down the road when we actually need him. Lets give him the time before we write him off...just so silly to invest all this time and then just say so long was good to knows ya becuz a few Internet GMs think he's a bum!
